Who should take this course
This online CE course is useful for the dentist who is an existing practice owner who wants to grow their practice by leaps and bounds rather than one patient at a time.
It's also very useful for an associate dentist looking for their first practice as the techniques outlined in this course can be used for practice growth, as well as identifying and evaluating your first dental practice. After acquiring your first practice, the information can then be used to acquire additional practices to turbo charge your growth.
It will also benefit an existing practice owner that is looking for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or even their 10th practice location.
The worst mistake you can do is buy the WRONG practice.
The wrong practice locks you in, and you cannot grow or expand. Dr. Wyne also shows you steps to avoid doing this, as well as discusses every mistake he's made and how to avoid them. In fact the full curriculum is listed just below.
Your first practice (not expanding?)
Only want to buy 1 practice? That's fine. I still ABSOLUTELY recommend this course.
The second module on how to perform due diligence the right way is top quality information and everyone should watch it before even thinking about buying a dental practice. (Most people are doing due diligence wrong by the way... which can be a very expensive mistake!)
The third module focuses entirely on dental practice acquisitions and will show you how to property evaluate a practice rather than relying on flawed appraisals from the sellers, evaluators, and brokers.
Here is why (it's IMPORTANT): Buying the wrong practice can cost you tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of your career. Plus a ton of unnecessary stress.
BLINDLY TRUSTING the practice evaluators to see if a dental practice is a recipe for DISASTER. Many of these evaluators are buddies with the practice brokers and their business is to move practices.
It's like that line in the movie Wolf on Wall Street. They do NOT care if the person's stock goes up or goes down. Brokers only care that the sale is made, because they're paid on the transaction. Commission. It's the same with dental practices. Practice evaluators are NOT paid on the performance of the practice over the next 10 years - they're long gone. Practice evaluators are paid on commission.
So giving YOURSELF the skillset to personally evaluate a dental office is a skill that they cannot take away from you. You might not have all the answers, but you will know how to ask the right questions and stop relying on other people to think for yourself on one of the most important financial decisions you ever make.
The practice brokers will say all sorts of things to make their sale. So will the owner trying to sell you their dental practice. Be aware. They do NOT care about your long term success. There are a lot of snakes out there. I would rather spend the price of 2-3 crown preps (tuition of this course) to potentially save myself hundreds of thousands of dollars and stress from buying the wrong practice (and instead finding the right practice!)
So even though you might not be interested in expanding and merging practices, this course gives dentists the skillset that is not taught in school but is extremely important. This course will teach you how to properly evaluate a dental office.
If your current routines aren’t solving your problems or getting you ahead, I recommend you enroll in PGA.
